This week while the kids have been at school i have kept myself busy with a mixture of Ponies, snow, mud skiing and some . . .
. . . Funky GeeGee's too!
Middle of last week we were thrown into a Christmas scene. The ponies thought it was great and they had a real SPRING in their step when i went to visit them.
The only problem is, white snow makes my horse look YELLOW!! And well every colour in between, he really is such a mucky pony, good job i don't have plans for him to be a show horse haha!! He is SUPER CUTE THOUGH, I love this pony.
Sparky pony looks fabulous in ALL SEASONS, Her black coat is striking against the snow.
It didn't last long, it was gone by the night time and it has been replaced with MUD!
Walking across the fields to check them requires skills on one's feet, mud skiing is the new walking!
So whats been happening in the studio?
Well the pencils got dancing and the sketchbook is beginning to come to life. I have lots of ideas but i'm trying to bring them together in themes. Now that we are in winter the GeeGee's are modelling their clips and rugs. Cozy scenes are starting to make it feel more like Winter as the GeeGee's brace themselves for the dark long cold nights.
This GeeGee has it sussed though . . .
The weanlings are learning about their world and having some fun exploring and growing independantly without their mother. This little guy is having great fun!
Some of the GeeGee's however are not having the best of times getting used to the winter routine . . .
I have been busy also creating some FESTIVE GEEGEE'S. I do this every year and i do hope you enjoy them as much as i enjoy creating them. This years theme will be Landmarks of the North east and i hope i can recreate the ideas i have wizzing through my head.
I painted this piece to get me in the mood and also because i haven't used the Acrylics in so long to paint a Funky GeeGee so i felt that need. Smurf and Sparky are the stars in this painting, HOW CUTE! They got some presents from Santa.

Hello everyone, here we are at the end of Summer and into Autumn we start to glide, suddenly long leisurely hacks are replaced with muddy boots, spiders loose their summer homes as the rugs come back out for winter, and water troughs suddenly become grubby and full of leaves.That gleaming coat you have been taking photographs of all summer suddenly looks like a raggy teddy that has been hung out on the line too long!
I know both our ponies are looking VERY fluffy again, Smurf is starting to grow his mustache back as he does every year, he looks so funny. I love my little FUNKY ponies.
I have started this blog post with not really much of a plan of what to write, I haven't done very much 'arty' this year until this last few weeks when i have felt those funky cogs start to work again. It was nice to feel them, even if they took some getting into momentum . . . They were of course seized shut from being locked away for so long, BUT they are moving, admittedly at times rather CLUNKY and they heat up easy and i fear lost bolts, BUT moving is momentum, momentum is good.
So then what have i done with my 'MOMENTUM' ? Well after a summer of PONIES and our second summer with Sparky pony and the inspiring collection of memories stored from days with the kids and ponies i have been sketching down ideas for future cartoons, lots of giggles, many a smile! Along with this Smurfmy little rescue foal is now all grown up and can you believe he is 3 years old! What a life we have had together so far, so many memories, we have also come through so much together and i feel this incredable bond with him i have never felt with a horse before, he really is SPECIAL. We have mainly spent our days chilling together in the field and i have been enjoying playing and running with him on the lovely summery days we have been having. The times i have with Smurf fill me with joy, and Sparky she is just such a gentle and loving character with a lot of cheeky-ness thrown in!
Add the pair of them together and there is some serious amounts of HUMOUR!
My cartoonwork i feel has a fresh edge to it now that i have the opportunity and privalage to have the ponies to inspire me, my work will have a more personal feel, a new edge. I always got attached to my Funky GeeGee's when i created them but now that i am creating them with all these personal memories and feelings attached to them and now with them being MY ponies i am creating for my new collections . . .
. . . . Well that just makes them even more personally FUNKY! :D
My newest collection of paintings are based around the ponies, the first collection is SMURF and his pre-school updates as he gets ready for 'proper' school next year.
I'd love to share with you the few i have done so far, hope they make you GIGGLE~

I also plan to create a collection starring Sparky pony and the troubles of a first pony which i will launch later in the year. I hope to share many giggles and the ability to relate to the comical side of our GeeGee's. I as always am very thankful to all of my followers, i love to know my work is also enjoyed by others all over the globe and i feel privileged to have you all join me on my FUNKY journey, wherever that may take me.
To end this blog post i'd love to share with you a video of my cartoonwork over the last couple of years, mixed with an insight into my Funky life and the ponies. I plan to move forwards with all these new FUNKY ideas that are wizzing through my head at the moment and also plan to get back into writing and releasing all these funky ideas out onto paper, YIKES . . . Well since my last post the weather has indeed cheered up a little, we have had a few COLD but dry days and today we were even spoilt with some SUNSHINE, YES, I did indeed just say SUNSHINE!
I have had a lovely couple of hours with the Ponies today, the sun was shining the ground was frozen solid so there was barely any mud so i thought i would let them have a nice breather without their rugs on to get some air on their little backs, bless my ikkle fluffy cobs. They have really enjoyed a good scratch and some air and it's nice to see them without all their clothes on au-natural, hahaha.
So then I hear you ask, What have the Funky GeeGee's been upto?
Well you wouldn't believe it if i told you, but i promise you that I am telling the truth, see i caught them red hoofed in the act!! PLANNING and PLOTTING . . . BEHIND MY BACK!!
Apparently they have managed to pay for, organise, pack, and prepare for a little short break away!
A SHORT BREAK AWAY? Where the heck to? I asked them. I'm yet to find out the details or logistics of this madness, I'm not even actually sure where they are going because there were brochures for all places all over the world on the floor next to them, and i didn't get a chance to grab the tickets to see where they were going, All I know is they are going to be flying there?

DO NOT PINCH THE CAPTAINS HAT!!
I don't really know much more than that, all i can do is hope they actually tell me at some point what their plans are, and i can somehow talk them out of it, I mean what if they get eaten by lions or something, last time a group of the GeeGee's went away without asking i was called by the coastguard to go get them off a banana boat in the pacific ocean !! Then there was a time after that when they went orienteering and I had to go find them on the Devon moors!!
We are all ok here in FUNKY towers !! This year seems to be zoooooming by!! It only seems 2 mins since new year and here we are going to find ourselves very shortly in the middle of the summer!! WOW. But we have not been blessed with the best of the weather and it is really annoying because it spoils a good day when the wind feels -2 degrees yet the sun is trying to be 20!! And although the grass is thriving, my flowers in the garden are only just starting to flower, the strawberry plants are slowly getting their flowers and the weeds well they are having a blast!!
So how are the GeeGee's?
Well they are doing great, Smurf is filling out lovely and although two next month he looks like a well rounded yearling, I knew when i first got him that he was going to need that extra love and care as he was only a few weeks old and needed his mum at this vital time in his life but unfortunatly things turned bad for him and if it hadn't of been for fate then he would not be here today. What a shame as he is such a beautiful pony!!!
Smurf chocolate buttons ~ Rising 2 years.
I will leave him until he is around 5 years old before i do anything with him really. Until then he is slowly learning how to be a horse as he has spent so much time baby with me as his support, now he needs to learn to be part of a herd!! Bless him this has not been without its difficulties but im hopeful that we have it sorted now and as long as Sparky pony (kids little pony) is there with him he is fine. However Sparky pony has got too fat and ive had to take her out and pop her in fat paddock with another chunky monkey so smurf now has only his new friends to rely on and cant hug sparky (Im sure she is glad of the break).

Well I am not sure about that!! But PONIES will be PONIES and well i suppose it comes with the territory!! But COME ON?!!
So what else have we been up to apart from sitting listening to different takes on where the rug fairies come from??
Well there has been plenty riding, lots of poop picking and a whole heap of washing!! But as for creativeness, well not so much. I have started researching for my next book but so far words have not appeared in a cohesive way in shape of a book ready to illustrate, but it will!!
In the meantime i have been playing in the form of teaching the kids the joys of PONY OWNING!! We have done a little bit of everything and well progress is very good and based around fun and having fun :)
As you can see we have filled in the summer that we have kind of had so far with 'something'. It has been hard trying to fit it in because the weather really hasn't been on our side at all, but we have tried to forgive it and do what we can when we can, and well we are seeing progress and well an increasingly plump pony!! So much so that i have had to start riding her so that we can shift a few of them extra calories!! Really tough to do if your only 8 years old but i can get her out further and in different places and school her and i also longrein her alot too just to keep her fitness up because she really NEEDS it!!

Cartooning/illustration anything???
nope BUT i have planned some for the near future, I shall probably get some cartooning squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezed into the next few weeks, I am hopeing to be inspired by our first little show next month. Eeeeeeeek im so nervous, the kids are so excited and the pony . . .She is BEAUTIFUL <3
Im really anxious about it, im trying to get myself together so im not flapping, i have been loaned some beautiful things for the kids to wear on the day, and my Sister has bought me a beautiful jacket to wear. My partner is excited to come and watch and see how the kids have progressed, he is coming armed with the camera to capture our precious memories. YIKES im just like jelly on a plate, but im trying to get everything together WELL AND TRUELLY in advance!! So all i needed was couple of ties that im going to dress up with diamontees, ive got a lovely browband borrowed from friend it is red, blue and silver so ties will come in with that. Also Baby Funky will wear little pigtails (Awwwwwww CUTE ALERT) matching little Sparkys browband :D Awwwwwww :) Both little Funkies are going to look MEGA cute, and Sparky pony hopefully will be shiny clean on the day, and she is naturally just GORGEOUS (I know im biast). We have been practicing hard, and Sparky has been testing us every time with her over exuberance when it comes to food . . . . Cheeky cheeky!! PONIES HUH???
We have moved to a new yard, we moved a few months agao and both ponies have settled so well, its like we have been there all along. The people on the yard have very quickly become friends and are really lovley people who all have beautiful horses and enjoy doing the things that we enjoy. Horse agility is new to us, and also new to the others on the yard and yet we have all had a go and enjoyed it and im looking forward to the future here and how we can all progress and have loads of fun with it. There are some beautiful horses on the yard, I get the opportunity to ride a few of them and i feel so privileged to be able to have this opportunity now. It all feels like it was meant to be, i have learned a few harsh lessons throught he process and learned that things can change. But sometimes as scary as the change is, as hurtful as it seems . .. . Better things come, a new route, a new pathway to lead you closer to your true heart and your passion. I feel so much happyer now, and the ponies are THRIVING!! Smurf is getting so grown up now, he is loosing all his baby traits and part of a herd now means some of the natural instincts he lacked he has gained. He is slowly learning how to be HORSE and Sparky is busy teaching the kids HORSEMANSHIP. All in all we are having an AMAZING TIME. Both ponies are looking really well and im feeling very much OPTIMISTIC about the future with my Young Potential Equestrians!! Memories to last a lifetime!!
Hello, WOW Spring almost . . .Already ??? This year seems to of gone faster than a GeeGee on a speedboat !! It only seems 2 mins since we were pigging out on christmas dinner and fighting over the last christmas cracker !! And now, its almost Easter !!!
So what have i been upto lately ? Well not alot really, I have alot of stuff i am tied up with at home, lots of sorting and tidying as i feel as if my house is at bursting point with what it can fit in, and the garage has become the storage for EVERYTHING most of it absolutely useless hoarding !! So a spring clean is in order in the Funky household :)
Other than that not really alot else to report on, My creative energy is at a complete standstill, I will get back to it but with all the other things i have going on at the moment i am just exhausted ! I have yet to create anything productive, but i will.
I have been spending time with my little friend Smurf Chocolate Buttons :) After a stressful day there is nothing better than some equine company with your best four legged friend who is always there to listen to any ramblings or rants you may have brewing and need to let out. Thank goodness he cannot talk, thats all i will say. And if he suddenly starts walking away ignoring me, WELL I suppose ive probably rambled on quite enough. He is such good company though, and such a good mood enhanser, you cannot help but smile when you are around him. And watching him grow and learn new things is such a wonderful experience. Im so so proud of my ikkle bundle of fluff :)
He's such a little beauty, I know i am biased ;P But He really has turned into a little topper :)
